Which of the following types of instrument can't be used for D.C Measurement?

  • Induction type instrument can't be used for D.C Measurement.
  • Induction type instruments cannot be used for DC measurement because they rely on the principle of electromagnetic induction, which only works with an alternating current (AC) source.
  • The movement of the aluminum disc or rotor in an induction type instrument is due to the interaction between the magnetic field produced by the current flowing in the measuring coil and the eddy currents induced in the disc or rotor by that magnetic field.
  • In DC, there is no change in the direction of the current, so there is no change in the magnetic field, and therefore no movement of the disc or rotor.
  • Therefore, induction type instruments are used for AC measurement only.
