According to IS 5968: 1987, the minimum radius of curve to be provided in the alignment of unlined canals carrying a discharge of less than 30 cumecs up to 15 cumecs is:

According to IS 5968: 1987, the minimum radius of curve to be provided in the alignment of unlined canals carrying a discharge of less than 30 cumecs up to 15 cumecs is 600 m.

The minimum radius is a limiting value of curvature for a given design speed and is determined from the maximum rate of superelevation and the maximum side friction factor selected for design (limiting value of f).

The minimum radius of the curve as per I. S. 5968 –1987 shall be provided.
