The frame may be defined as a structure, made up of several bars, riveted or welded together. The bars are also known as the members of the frame. There are three types of frames namely

  1. Perfect frames
  2. Deficient frame
  3. Redundant frames.

Perfect frames:- A frame is called a perfect frame, which has got the number of members as given by the formula

n = (2j − 3)

where

n= Number of members

j= Number of joints.
