  • When emitter terminal of a UJT is open then the resistance of the base terminal is Very high.
  • The UJT cannot conduct current when the emitter terminal is open, and therefore the resistance between the base and emitter terminals becomes very high.
  • The UJT is a three-terminal semiconductor device that has a unique characteristic of negative resistance in its current-voltage characteristic curve.
  • The UJT has two junctions, one between the emitter and the base and another between the emitter and the external resistor R_E.
  • When the emitter terminal is open, the UJT cannot conduct current, and the device behaves like an open circuit.
  • The resistance between the base and emitter terminals becomes very high, typically in the range of several hundred kiloohms to several megaohms.
